Bantwal, May 14: With the assembly elections out on Saturday, May 13, most of the citizens are engaged in discussing the poll outcome. However, in Bantwal Town Municipality council, the first phase 20-month joint administration between Congress and SDPI is over with the appointment of the administrative officer still pending.
The Bantwal Town Municipality Council has 12 members of the Congress party and 4 from the SDPI in a coalition. The BJP has 11 members. The Congress-SDPI coalition under chairman Mohammed Sharief and vice-chairman Jesinta D'Souza has completed 20 months of administration on May 7.
The appointment of chairman and vice-chairman for the next 20 months is yet to be announced.
With the assembly election results just out and the government formation in process the appointment of the chairman and vice-chairman is likely to be announced soon.
The deputy commissioner is busy in the election process and the term of the people's representative is over, the appointment is yet to take place. In all likelihood, Mangaluru assistant commissioner is likely to be named the administrative officer on Monday, May 15.
