‘Sikeram Driver’ twin shows rock Shirva, Mangaluru with houseful attendance

Shirva/Mangaluru, May 17: A very talented team led by Dony Correa all the way from Dubai successfully presented Konkani drama ‘Sikeram Driver’ to a houseful crowd in Shirva and Mangaluru.

The first show was presented at Shirva church grounds on May 6, organized by Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh (R) Shirva unit. A crowd of over 1200, which was gathered, kept glued to their seats until the end to witness the intense, energetic and engaging drama. The crowd highly appreciated this perfect blend of humor, emotion, drama, suspense and loads of entertainment.

Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh (R) organized Sikeram Driver for a noble cause and they generated an amount of over Rs 75,000, which will be used as an educational fund for a family in Shirva parish. Popular personalities Joseph Mathias and Francis Fernandes Cascia were the guests of honour. Leena Machado compered the event. Gilbert Pinto welcomed the gathering and Fr Dr Leslie Clifford D’Souza, and Melwyn Aranha honoured the guests. Joseph Mathias flew all the way from Dubai to witness both the shows and was honoured in Shirva and Mangaluru for his encouragement and support towards the Sikeram Driver team. The audience won attractive prizes through raffle draw. The Sikeram Driver team as a token of gratitude presented Fr Dr Leslie Clifford D’Souza – Shirva parish priest and Melwyn Aranha – vice president mementos.

The second show was held at St Aloysius College (LCR1 auditorium) on May 7, to a houseful crowd. The show was organized by Astitva (R) Mangaluru. The pin drop silence between the scenes and the applause after every scene indicated that it was a super-hit show. Eminent personalities like Meena Rebimbus, Walter Nandalike, Joseph Mathias, Melwin Peris, Vijaykumar Kodialbail, Dr Prashant Raj, graced the second show that was held in Mangaluru. The guests were honoured with mementos. Christy Neenasam compered the event and Fr Alwyn Serrao welcomed the gathering. Joel Lobo, an emerging artiste of team Astitva Mangaluru was presented with the Graduate an Artist scholarship which was initiated by Astitva Mangaluru and sponsored by the Sikeram Driver team.

The drama team under the leadership of Dony Correa did not leave any stone unturned to make it a huge hit in both the locations. The talented artistes mesmerized the audience through their powerful and brilliant acting skills. Each actor did full justice to their stage characters. It was very much evident with applause, laughter, whistles that the audience were enjoying every moment till the end. Their superb dialogue delivery with utmost clarity, and the intense act captivated the hearts of the audience. The comedy timing of Sunil Suvarna and Robert Mendonca bought in loads of laughter among the crowd. The brilliant and powerful act of Cynthia Mendonca, Godwin Castelino and Vincy Lobo captivated the hearts of the audience. The emotional act and involvement of Asha Correa was appreciated by the crowd. Dony Correa as Sikeram made an everlasting impact among the hearts and mind of the audience present. Everyone applauded the apt acting of Sikeram and his superb dialogue delivery. The fantastic music that added zest to the drama was designed by the well-known drama musician Rohan Kalakul. The beautiful lighting was designed by Melwin Kalakul. Astitva Mangalore provided brilliant light, sound setting, stage setting and make-up, which was a clear witness of their abilities and professionalism.
