Beltangady, May 14: A complaint has been filed by a married woman against an Ujire-based businessman accusing him of kidnapping her and sexually harassing her in a car on the pretext of giving her a job.

Based on a complaint filed by the victim Sujatha, a resident of Hangaravalli (Chikkamagaluru district), an FIR was registered against businessman Prabhakar Hegde, the owner of Mahaveera Textile and Mahaveera Super Market.

Sujatha, the victim along with her husband Kiran Gowda went to Beltangady police station and filed a complaint against businessman Prabhakar Hegde.

Sujatha and her husband Kiran Gowda had been to Prabhakar Hegde's company in search of a job. Hegde had accommodated the couple in his house and had appointed Kiran to look after the cooking activities in his company.

Later, Hegde had taken Sujatha in his car on the pretext of showing his supermarket and dropping her off at his company. The accused meandered towards Kakkinje instead of Dharmasthala when Sujatha grew suspicious about the route that he was taking. When she questioned him he told her that her husband had got the job and had allegedly started molesting her and tried to outrage her modesty. At this moment, the victim Sujatha started screaming. When the accused Prabhakar Hegde saw some locals coming towards them he left her after travelling a few metres and fled from the scene, the couple said in the complaint.

Prabhakar Hegde has gone missing as a complaint of sexual harassment was filed by the victim.
