Mangaluru, May 17: Police personnel have reportedly inflicted third degree treatment on the accused who had put up a banner criticising BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel and MP D V Sadananda Gowda. It is gathered that the police mercilessly beat the accused black and blue. There is widespread anguish against the police.
The police had arrested the accused earlier. It is being alleged that the police have tortured them allegedly due to pressure from people close to BJP party leaders in Puttur.
The accused are unable to get up and walk after the gruesome beatings. Seven BJP activists who were anguished after the party’s defeat had put up the banner paying them homage.
Hindu organisation leader Arun Puthila who came to know the plight of the accused, got them released.
Several BJP activists are reportedly miffed after their own men were tortured by the police.
