Swearing-in ceremony will be historical, says D K Shivakumar

Bengaluru, May 19 (IANS): Karnataka Congress President and designated DyCM D.K. Shivakumar on Friday stated that the swearing-in ceremony of the Congress government on May 20 will be a historical event.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Shivakumar stated that the new government which is the voice of the people and which is looked up to by the people is going to take shape on Saturday.

"All our national leaders are coming to attend the swearing-in ceremony. On the first day of the cabinet, we are going to implement all the guarantee schemes. Many national leaders are also participating in the event.

"I call upon all Congress workers and leaders to consider this statement through the media as an invitation and attend the programme. The people need to reach the venue before 11 a.m.," he stated.

"I invite other party leaders from JD(S), BJP to attend the event as they are also part of the government," he said.

"We are going to meet AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala regarding finalisation of the first stage of cabinet expansion," he said.

Shivakumar, answering a question on region or caste wise priorities in cabinet formation, stated, "Our first priority is to keep the word given to the people. There is no scope of confusion. We will work unitedly. We don't have caste or region based priorities. There is only one region," he said.

Asked about any conditions applying for guarantee schemes, Shivakumar explained that these schemes are not given by Siddaramaiah or himself. "One scheme was promised by Rahul Gandhi, the Gruhalaxmi scheme was announced by Priyanka Gandhi and we (Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar) have announced others. These are vows given by the Congress," he added.

Shivakumar visited on Friday at Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru to inspect the arrangements for the swearing in ceremony being held on Saturday.

Congress party’s deputy leader of opposition in the Legislative Council K Govindaraju and his other followers accompanied Shivakumar.

Modi and Shah will not be able to attend as they are busy with central govt., work. They hardly get any time to waste on state subjects. Please accept their apologies for not being able to attend. Some of their chamchas in the state will however watch the ceremony on TV for sure. Thank you for the open invitation you have extended. Will see you in 2024 anyways. BJP IT Cell

i never thought ghatta people are so brainy when it comes to throwing a corrupt govt....though chaiwala,,,daku and boggi made several rounds of the state....this clearly shows that people of karu nadu except the so called athi buddivanathas of dk and udupi follow the administration closely and throw governements when they dont like and dont care for the goodies they give..many ghatta people have taken money and other gifts from the brashta janara party but voted for Congress...

The Swearing -in ceremony will disappear from public memories sooner or later but any HISTORIC Decision that will benefit the masses will be remembered generations to generations. For example the Land Reforms Act in Karnataka wherein the title of the agricultural land was transferred to one who cultivated the land is still remembered even though several DECADES Passed away

My question is when DK & Udupi have not voted ro congress , Voted on Hindutva agenda to BJP then why should congress leave 200 units for DK & Udupi. When Bhaktas didn't want Congress now why do they need congress schemes .. Let them as Nalini Kateel who is Nalini kateel to tell not to pay bills. Wht has he done what promise has he kept . Shamless fellow should quit his post .

Grateful prayers to Ram, Allah and Jesus, for a stable government formation and next 5 years. Tricolor flag tomorrow heralds back secularism that existed in South India way back. Hope that it gets carried forward in next general elections. Say no to Hitler and Mussolini that wants India to be destroyed for.....

Tomorrow will be a sad day for many chaddies. Instead of gracefully accepting defeat the communal minded ones from DK and Udipi, first started taunting the people from the rest of the state for voting for the Congress. They forgot that the very same people had voted for the BJP in the past. Instead of analyzing the failures of the BJP government and asking their leaders,as to why the very same people were angry and voted for the Congress this time, they began making fun of the welfare schemes announced by the Congress in their manifesto. Then they were gleefully watching the Congress meetings to decide on the CM, fully expecting the party to split, but the unity in the Congress is giving them severe acidity now. Poor sad losers.

Good point. In the corporate world, when they promote a senior person, they see if the promotee will be suitable for the subsequent position too... For instance, in a typical hierarchy, when you are promoted to GM, it'll be seen if you'd fit into VP's shoes when the opportunity arises.. Likewise, when someone is promoted to CM, it's advantageous to possess PM's qualities.. current PM is an example. There are few exceptions to the convention though.. Mrs Gandhi and Mr MMS were epitome of pure talent.
