Kundapur: Illegal sand den raided, five trucks confiscated

Kundapur, May 21: A team from the mining and geology department, led by geoscientist Sandhya, conducted a raid on an unauthorized sand mining operation operating in the vicinity of Hattiangadi and Hemmadi in the Vandse hobali area on Friday night. As a result, five tipper trucks were confiscated.

The raid was prompted by a complaint from local villagers, who reported that sand was being unlawfully extracted from the Panchagangavali river at Kannadakudru. Four trucks were seized at Hattikudru, while one truck was taken into custody at Kannadakudru.

The case has been registered by geoscientist Sandhya. The four confiscated tipper trucks have been handed over to rural police stations, while the remaining truck has been handed over to the city police station pending further investigation.
