Mangaluru, Jun 3: “Innocent youths are arrested in the moral policing case. No action is taken on the youths of college who have behaved indecently. Relatives of the girl students and the administrators of the education institution should be called to the police station for inquiry. If police will not bring them to the station within three days and conduct an inquiry, women will protest in front of the educational institute and the police station,” said Mahila Rakshana Vedike leader Dhanlaxmi Gatti.
“The male and female students who caused the arrest of innocent youths in the Someshwar beach case should be summoned to the police station and questioned. We will be sitting in protest in front of their institutes if not,” she urged.
The family members of the arrested youths and the Vedike activists visited Ullal police station inspector and submitted a memorandum.
“Someshwar is witness that girls are in the environment portrayed in The Kerala Story film. The youths are arrested on allegations that they have taken the law into their hands. The Kerala girls are the students of a college in Mangaluru. One of the girls who was friendly with the Muslim student had brought two other girls. Onlookers have seen them sleeping on the sea shore. Local youth have opposed it. The arrest of the youth has spoiled the sleep of their mothers.
“The girls have been left in the hospital without recording their statements. There should be investigation regarding the students in the hospital if they have Jihadi mind-set or are real friends.
“If the police do not respond to our requests, we will be going to the girls' hostels or residences and speak to their parents. We will ensure that the innocent youth get justice”, they said.
