Mumbai, Jul 17: In an interesting development on Sunday July 17, Jerome Emile Mathew, convicted in the sensational TV excecutive Neeraj Grover murder case, blamed Maria Monica Susairaj for the crime and moved the Bombay High Court challenging his conviction.
He is presently in jail serving a 10-year prison sentence, of which he has already completed three years as an undertrial.
The appeal is expected to come up for hearing in the Bombay High Court on July 25.
It may be recalled that on July 1 this year the Mumbai sessions court had convicted and sentencsed Jerome for 10 years and Maria for three years for committing Grover's murder.
Putting the blame on Maria, Jerome Mathew in his appeal said, 'That motive, if any, was with the original accused No 1 (Maria) for committing the offence and not with the applicant (Jerome).'
The appeal further states the exact time of Grover's death is not asertained, so the death could have occured even before Jerome's arrival at Maria's flat in Mumbai.
