Udupi, Jun 18: A tragic accident took place on Saturday at Jakkanamakki near Sita river on the Hebri-Agumbe national highway involving a tipper truck and an Eicher vehicle. The driver of the Eicher truck sadly passed away at the scene.

The victim of the accident was Balakrishna (58), a resident of Koppa, who was driving the Eicher vehicle. He was traveling from Agumbe around 7 pm when the tipper truck approached from the opposite direction. The vehicles following the tipper truck also collided with it, resulting in a complete road blockage.

The impact of the collision left the Eicher truck severely damaged. The station officer Sudarshana Doddamani, Niranjan Hegde, and local residents faced considerable difficulties while extricating the driver's remains from the vehicle.

It is worth noting that two individuals lost their lives in a separate accident at the same spot last week. The location is narrow, leaving no room for other vehicles to pass if two accidents occur simultaneously.

A case has been registered at the Hebri police station.
