Boston, July 21 (IANS) India's Aparajitha Balamurukan and Anaka Alankamony advanced to the third round of the WSF World women's junior squash Championship at Harvard near here Wednesday.
Aparajitha defeated Choi Uen Shan (HKG) 11-9, 9-11, 11-4, 11-6 in 30 minutes while Anaka, seeded 9-16, took 41 minutes to overcome Olivia Fiechter (USA) 8-11, 11-9, 11-9 11-9.
In the third round, Anaka will take on Canadian Alix Younger while Aparajitha faces
3-4 seed Nour El Sherbini of Egypt.
However, Lakshya Ragavendran went down to Olivia Blatchford (USA) 0-11, 4-11, 3-11 in just 16 minutes and Saumya Karki also made her exit despite leading 2-0 as Ho Tze-Lok (HKG) bounced back to win 11-13, 9-11, 12-10, 11-9, 11-5, in a match that lasted nearly an hour.
Another Indian on the losing side was Anikita Sharma who was beaten 4-11, 3-11, 4-11 by Egyptian Mariam Metwally.
In the first round on the opening day, Lakshya had beaten Julienne Chu (USA) 11-6, 5-11, 12-10, 5-11, 11-6.
