Religious conversions happening in Chitradurga for one biryani: Union minister Narayanaswamy

Daijiworld Media Network – Chitradurga (SS)

Chitradurga, Jun 21: Union minister A Narayanaswamy has charged that in Chitradurga the exploited people are being subjected to religious conversions by inducement of a biryani.

Reacting to the state government's decision to repeal the anti-conversion law, he said Andhra Pradesh has seen 90% of conversions while it is 30% in Telangana. "People of my Madiga community are getting converted everywhere. In Chitradurga and its surroundings, it is enough for people to get converted if they are given a biryani and so their backwardness and poverty is being exploited," he charged.

He said the exploited are being targeted and converted. "It is not possible to get an identity through conversions and so the previous BJP government under Basavaraj Bommai had enacted a law against forced conversions. Let the Congress go against this," he said.

The union minister said uniform civil code is being welcomed even by Muslims. The move will ensure respect to Indian Constitution which was what Dr Ambedkar wished for while alluding to the fact that it will be wrong to repeal the anti-conversion law by the state government. He said Dr Ambedkar wished that the Constitution should be supreme and respected by all.

On the Congress guarantees in the state, the union minister said the party had come to power with these tall promises which are against the principles. "The government should provide free rice to the citizens as per its promise and it is inappropriate to blame the Centre for not supplying rice to the state." He said the Centre is supplying rice based on the availability of stock and produce.

Ridiculing the Shakti scheme that allows free travel for women in government-run buses, Minister Narayanaswamy said it is a red bus for citizens as many children and mothers have fallen from the buses. "Women are fighting with the bus drivers and conductors. Government buses are running to packed capacities but nobody has seen the condition of the roads and state of affairs that exist in pilgrim centres. There is no security for bus drivers and conductors. Moreover, there has been no inspection conducted on the condition of the buses," he charged.

He said Congress had coined the slogan 'Garibi Hatao' but the people continued to remain poor even after many years of the slogan being coined.

Mr. Union minister A Narayanaswamy, it’s a shame that people from your own Madiga community are being religiously exploited because of their poverty, that too for ONE biryani. You are a Central Government minister and you are doing nothing about teir poverty and complaining about conversions..??? Remember Mr. minister, hunger is more powerful than religion. Shame on you.. SHAME..!

Union Minister Narayansaamy is so out of touch with his own people. Hindus have always been faithful to Hinduism otherwise 50 percent of India would have been converted by now considering that Christian institution punch above their weight in numbers and population since their educational institution and hostipals serve more Hindus and people of other communities

Give rice at least, if not biriyani, to avoid conversions. If you give free bus travel, 200 units electricity per month, one LPG gas refill every two months, you won't see people getting converted to other religions. You keep taking 40% even from your voters and bhukths, and expect to admire you, sir?

This proves that your religion is so weak in faith that people are ok to convert for a mere biriyani. What have you done to keep them in your faith? Also who are you to judge or decide when adults make a choice out of their own free will to convert to another faith. Doesn't the constitution provide every citizen the Right to religion?

What a Shame that a Union Minister is accepting that members of his community are converting for one Biriyani.....shame on him that his community is so deep in poverty and he has done nothing for them.. Secondly this is not a phenomenon, if so, of recent times...it must have been taking place during Bomma times too, so Double engineer Sarkar is Useless and the anti conversion bill is if no use !!! Thirdly ensure that the Central govt. Releases Rice from the FCI so that they can have and cook the Biryani at home

BJP Minister clearly saying and acknowledging nation is pushed back to deep poverty, in past 9yrs of Modi led BJP, where people who followed their faiths for centuries and decades, can give it up just for one biryani. Then there are few NRIs settled in US, who singing looks soo odd and so out of touch with reality.

He is not worried about the backwardness and poverty of the people; he is worried of his votebank. Perhaps figure out why people are converting if they are offering something as trivial as a plate of food.
