Karkala: TV sale dispute ends tragically with couple's death in front of children

Daijiworld Media Network - Karkala (DRD)

Karkala, Jun 25: A fight over the sale of a TV involving a couple from Yallapur in Uttara Kannada district turned fatal with both drowning to death on Sunday, June 25 morning.

The couple, identified as Emanul Siddhi (40) and Yashodha (32), was employed in the garden of a Mumbai hotel owner in Nallur Hurladi.

Emmanuel Siddhi, belonging to the Siddi race, had been working in the garden of Mumbai hotelier Nallur Hurladi Raghuveer Shetty for the past two years. Despite initially living under favorable circumstances, recent days saw an escalation of quarrels between the couple over trivial matters.

It is known that Emanul Siddhi (40) had a known alcohol addiction. However, the couple's two children, Saluv (11) and Irene (10), were attending a local government school.

According to the statement provided by the deceased children, Emanul Siddhi initiated a conversation with his wife on Sunday morning, suggesting the sale of the TV in their home. When Yashodha objected, a heated argument ensued, leading to Yashodha running away from home and tragically committing suicide by jumping into a nearby lake.

In a desperate attempt to save his wife, Emanul Siddhi also jumped into the same lake, repeatedly diving down two or three times. Tragically, on his fourth attempt, he too drowned in the lake. Despite being a swimmer, he was unable to rescue his wife.

This heartbreaking incident unfolded before the couple's children, leaving them orphaned. The couple, who had embarked on their journey with dreams of a "new life," succumbed to their rash nature.

Rural Sub-Inspector Tejaswi and other police personnel arrived at the scene to gather necessary information.

The bodies have been transported to the taluk government hospital.

A case has been registered at the Karkala rural police station in connection with the incident.

Doctor, First big screen (movies) brainwash, then TV screen now small screen, mobile. So women and children get addicted to so called one after other brainwashing serials men go and seek their own entertainment in alcohal, get dictator superman high spirits ? then get addicted to alcohal also ? Then everyday real life TV show for neighbours ? So both Tv and alcohal are related. Once or twice in a week, certain time slot keep it for these specially some good moral TV shows instead of everyday quarrelsome serials then practice same at homes ? Then For all these things divorce? then divorce after divorce ? Each one's Self control in the family is better than creating loose or less moralled society so to lessen the crimes ?

Trivial pursuits. RIP. Instead of running away and jumping in the lake, if she only thought of a free bus ride provided by the Karnataka, she would have been alive! But they don't think through in a heated argument.

Very tragic. Both must have not realised it would end tragically.Only because of selling a TV?when one is sold ,another one can be brought or bought.May be he was not having enough money for his alcohol or household things to buy?Comprimiss should be between couple.Simply dont try to make it worser than it is.Must think of children.May be one who could swim better ,could jump and try to help?Sometimes mind too dont work in such moments.Heartfelt sympathy to these orphan children.May their souls rest in peace.
