Light showers in Delhi Saturday

New Delhi, July 23 (IANS) Light showers Saturday night brought a brief respite to Delhi residents after another hot and muggy day Saturday. Sunday is likely to see cloudy skies, according to the weather office.

An India Meteorological Department official said the showers were due to rainy clouds approaching from the east but they had shed most of their moisture on the way.

Other details were not available.

The maximum temperature Saturday was recorded at 34 degrees Celsius, a notch below average, while the minimum temperature settled at 27.9 degrees Celsius, one notch above average.

No rain was recorded between 8.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. and the humidity remained between a high of 85 percent and a low of 63 percent.

"A total of 138.8 mm rainfall has been recorded so far this season which is 39 percent less than the average," said an IMD official.

"The sky will be partly cloudy on Sunday and there is a possibility of lightning later in the day," added the official.

The maximum and minimum temperature are expected to hover around 33 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively.
