Mexico City, Jul 25 (IANS/EFE): At least 12 migrants, including two women, who were kidnapped two months ago in Mexico have been rescued by police, officials said.
The migrants - eight Central Americans, three Brazilians and an Iranian - were found at a house in Reynosa city across the border from McAllen, Texas, the Public Safety Secretariat said.
The two women and 10 men were taken from Chiapas state on the border with Guatemala.
The migrants told police that the kidnappers "beat them severely".
Thousands of migrants, both Mexicans and foreigners, try to enter the US each year via land routes from Mexico.
An estimated 300,000 Central Americans and 400,000 Mexicans undertake the dangerous journey across Mexico each year on their way to the US.
