Sullia, Jul 2: The deadline given by NIA asking the accused in Praveen Nettaru murder case is over. None of the accused have surrendered so far. Public is curious to know the next move of NIA.

NIA had taken out order for the accused to surrender before June 30 or else their properties will be confiscated. The announcement was done through loudspeakers in streets and posters were pasted on the houses of the accused.

Even the confiscation of movable and immovable properties of absconding accused takes a lot of time. NIA has to gather information from revenue department, bank and other sources on the properties and other movable assets in the names of the accused and submit that same to the court. The court that verifies whether the said assets belong actually to the accused or not. Then only the assets can be taken into custody by the government.

There is a suspicion that the accused might have escaped to overseas countries. In total there are eight suspected accused, who are absconding. They include Abdul Nasir and Abdul Rehman of Kodagu, Naushad of Beltangady, Tufail, Mohammed Mustafa (Rs five lac bounty is announced for any clue on these two), Ummer Farukh and Aboobacker Siddique (Rs two lac bounty is announced for any clue on these two).

PFI killer squads or service squads killed Praveen Nettaru in July 2022. It is said that the motto of PFI is to establish Islamic nation in India by 2047. So far NIA has filed chargesheet against 21 people in this case.
