BJP boycotts Assembly business advisory committee meeting, stalls proceedings

Bengaluru, Jul 4: Unable to move an adjournment motion in the State Assembly on the very first day of the session seeking suspension of other business, the opposition BJP stalled the proceedings in the house and boycotted the business advisory committee meeting convened by Speaker U T Khader.

Speaking to media persons in the corridors of the assembly, BJP’s former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai criticised the Siddaramaiah government for prevailing upon the Speaker to prevent a debate on the government’s failure to implement the ruling party’s guarantees in the house.

Bommai accused the Congress regime of functioning in an undemocratic manner and alleged that it has cheated the people by not implementing its guarantees.

Anna Bhagya scheme is not implemented while the government is trying to create trouble in the families on deciding the female head of the family under its Gruhalakshmi scheme, while there are insufficient buses for the Shakti scheme and school children are deprived of buses.

"We sought a debate in the house to discuss the government’s failures in implementing the guarantees. Parts of Karnataka are suffering due to drought conditions and there is drinking water problem. But a discussion is not allowed forcing the opposition to rush to the well of the house in protest on the very first day,’’ he said.

Instead of allowing a debate in the house, the business advisory committee meeting has been convened to discuss the order of business in the house. "We have decided to boycott the meeting until a discussion is allowed,’’ he said.

There are instances of corruption in the chief minister’s office and commission for transfers and the BJP will take them up for debate in the house, he said.

Bommai said the BJP government’s 'pro-people' laws were brought because people demanded them even though the Congress may not like them.

"We will continue our fight,’’ he declared.

BJP politicians should be sent to school to learn the function of the opposition party in a Republic. BJP politicians do not understand that the opposition has a useful function in a republic. The opposition party is supposed to hold the government accountable. BJP politicians are under the misapprehension that the function of the opposition party is to sabotage the role of the government.

Electoral debacle or lets say drubbing -- loss of face--- is making BJP adopt various theatrics -- Congress guarantee schemes was not the only reason as made out -- For electoral loss - it was a humiliating defeat despite several visits upto PM level --- - now all out Political chicanery-- incl MAHARASTRA and expect other States like Bihar - If this continues - collapse of democracy-- Despite PM visit to the USA -- addressing Joint session -- the Senate and the House of Representatives -- only flowery words on democracy -- --

BJP is pro-people. hehe. Desperate russia sells cheap oil to India. Russia is happy. India pays in Yuan, chinese currency, China is happy. India buys drones and commercial planes from US-EU, they are all happy. Middle class families, paying petrol at 100 per ltr, burning mid-night oil to meet ends, making everybody happy and sinking into poverty. Not sure why BJP is so against middle class and poor.
