Byndoor: Cyber awareness programme held for senior citizens

Byndoor Jul 10: Under the joint auspices of Senior Citizens' Forum Byndoor and Shiroor and Rotary Club Byndoor, a programme on cyber awareness on safety, security and privacy was held at Rotary Samudaya Bhavana Byndoor. Udupi cyber crime police inspector Manjunatha was the resource person, gave detailed information about cyber vigilance.

Manjunatha said, “recently there had been a lot of 'Internet Phishing', that is, the way fishermen throw nets, and fish.Innocent people are falling into the trap of fraud on the Internet. Losing money by sharing OTP, Facebook, need for citizens to be vigilant by revealing their privacy and sharing information through social networking sites like Instagram and detailing financial loss. It is ironic that educated people, government employees, and senior citizens are among those who are deprived in this manner."

Chief guest Dr Shashidhar YN, professor and head of the department of community health nursing, Manipal College of Nursing MAHE, Manipal in his introductory remarks, spoke about the health of senior citizens and the causes of depression in them and told them to be vigilant.

Byndoor Senior Citizens Forum president K Pundaleeka Nayak quoting the words of resource personsadvised the senior citizens to be vigilant. K Sharada, a member of the senior citizens froum, offered prayers. Prasad Prabhu, president of the Byndoor Rotary Club delivered the speech.

Vasant Hegade, founder president of Byndoor senior citizens forum, Rama Master, Sanjiva Achar, I. Narayana, Govindraya Pai,and many others participated in the discussion and made the program meaningful.

Shiroor senior citizens forum president SM Ajmal, secretary Chandrasekhara Shetty, Byndoor senior citizens forum immediate past president Govinda M, vice president Nakatte Jagannath Shetty were present on the stage and offered their best wishes.

Secretary Govinda Billava presented the programme. Jagadish Achar assisted. Raghavendra G, assistant professor of Welcomegroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration, Manipal organized the programme and delivered the vote of thanks.
