T K A Nair Appointed Advisor to PM

New Delhi, Jul 29: The government announced the appointment of T K A Nair as advisor to the Prime Minister on Thursday July 28. Nair was the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister for seven years.

Nair will be replaced by Senior bureaucrat Pulok Chatterjee. He will take up his new assignment on October 3 after his term as executive director in the World Bank ends.

Chatterjee is a 1974 batch Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer who was in the PMO in the United Progressive Alliance's first tenure and is currently serving as the Executive Director in the World Bank, Washington. He was also Officer on Special Duty to Sonia Gandhi when she was Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. In 2004, when UPA came to power, he returned to PMO as joint secretary before being promoted as secretary.

Chatterjee, who was part of the PMO in UPA-I, is expected to strengthen the PM's office.

As advisor, Nair, a retired IAS officer of 1963 batch, will be given the rank and status of Minister of State in the PMO.

    Mr Nair is great personality,Further he is very loyal person..This is the reason why Mr singh wants him to be available in PMO to assist him..
