Kundapur, Jul 22: Agricultural activities titled ‘Krishiya Kade Namma Nade’ were held here in the leadership of Bharath Scouts and Guides under the cooperation of Lions Club Kundapur City Centre.
Lions Club Kundapur City Centre president Veena Rajiv Kotian gave paddy saplings to students for planting in paddy fields and inaugurated the programme. She said that the inclination of students towards agriculture is decreasing these days due to industrialization and creating awareness among students in cultivation is commendable.
Gunarathna, president of a local organization who presided over the programme said that the programme has been held for the last nine years. “Various saplings are being planted on the river side,” she said.
Rajiv Kotian from Lions, Bharath Scouts and Guides, district secretary Anand Adiga, Sumana Shekar, Savithri, social worker Sathish Kotian, K R Nayak, Sumanth Hegde Kotian family members and Lions members were present. Local organization treasurer Virendra welcomed. Thekkatte Kuvempu Centenary School scouts’ teacher Sadananda Shetty compered the programme.
Special delicacies of Ashada month were distributed to students through Narayana Guru Mahila Sahakari Sangha. 290 students of Kundapur took part in the programme.
