Bantwal: No decrease in rainfall, water level of Netravati river recedes

Bantwal, July 26: Incessant rainfall continued here even though the level of water of Netravati river has receded. The road has been closed near Loretto as the mud and rocks caved in from the hill on to the road.

There have been natural calamities here for the last few days due to heavy rainfall. Houses were damaged and trees were uprooted due to the heavy downpour accompanied by gutsy winds causing losses worth several lacs of rupees.

Life has been adversely affected. Santhosh Acharya's home at Kepu village  and that of Mercin Moras at Balthila village were also damaged. The house wall of Vasanth, at Barimar village collapsed due to the rain. The areca nut plantations of Sudhir Kumar at Mithur were damaged as per information from the taluk office.
