Puttur: Bike crashes into parked truck – Rider dies

Puttur, Jul 27: A bike rider was killed as he crashed his bike on a stationary truck that was parked by the side of highway at Sannampadi of Golithottu village near Uppinangady on Tuesday night.

The deceased is identified as Mohammed Iqbal (24), a resident of Nelyadi. He was going from Puttur to Nelyadi. The truck was parked on the side of highway as there was some engine problem. After hitting the truck from behind, Iqbal was thrown onto the road side drain. Though he was rushed to Puttur hospital, the doctor declared him dead.

A case is filed against the truck driver, who did not display reflector sign board of vehicle under breakdown, thereby causing the death of Mohammed. Puttur traffic police registered a case as per the complaint filed by Ilyas, brother of deceased Mohammed.

    Hi RIP. Many lives have been lost due to the negligence of truck drivers parking in the road without any reflectors One similar incidence is not the death of my Collegue , Mr Bhat , working in The printers mysore limited in Belur industrial area , Dharwad many years back The lorry drivers have to be sensitised and made responsible for such deaths
