Panaji, Aug 1: The Central Bureau of Investigation in its closure report on the International film festival of India (IFFI) 2004 case declared then Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar clean.

The report recommended action against the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation managing director R K Sen and another official J N Chimulkar.

The report says that action has been recommended against Sen and Chimulkar for entrusting the consultancy work to inexperienced S N Bhobe & Associates Pvt Ltd, whose mismanagement led to the payment of idling charges.

The CBI had taken statements of 11 persons, including that of Parrika before filing its closure report.

Speaking to media, Parrikar said that the case is totally political as the allegations are not substantiated.

He also claimed the case to be bogus and knowingly filed by the congress leader Mauvin Godinho at the Panaji police station, though the case was already pending with the CBI.

An investigation against bureaucrats involved in the building infrastructure irregularities during IFFI 2004 by the vigilance department awaits government’s permission after the closure.
