Udupi: Samana Manaskara Vedike to hold foot rally, protest over Manipur unrest on Aug 2

Udupi, Jul 29: A foot rally and protest will be held by Samana Manaskara Vedike on August 2, from Mother of Sorrows Church to Christian High School ground in Udupi.

Prashanth Jathanna, president of Samana Manaskara Vedike addressed media on Saturday July 29 and said, “If the ruler of the nation doesn’t not speak up during violence, it increase the unrest. Our Prime Minister visited different countries but he never visited Manipur. The main aim of this protest is to make our Prime Minister aware of the situation in Manipur.”

Prof Mani Raj said, “If Manipur issue spreads to different parts of the nation, it will lead to a complete unrest. How the state and union governments are doing nothing to solve the issue, will be brought to light. Through this protest, we would like to tell that we are with people of Manipur.”

Udyavar Nagesh Kumar said, “Our aim is to bring peace all over the nation. The PM of India has never did anything to stop the violence which is in progress in Manipur.”

Fr Dennis D’Sa said, “It has been over two months since violence began in Manipur. As many as 114 people died, 6000 people are have left their homes, women are being harassed and more than 240 churches are destroyed. Going against human rights is wrong.”

More than 7000 people including members of Muslim and Dalit union, and other associations will take part in the protest.

Sundar Master, Dr Sunitha Shetty, Roshni Olivera, Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj Organisation district president, Udyavar Nagesh Kumar and others were present.
