Moral policing backfires: Mangaluru journalist abused in restaurant, 2 arrested

Mangaluru, Jul 31 (IANS): Two persons have been arrested in connection with a "moral policing" case with a journalist at a restaurant in city, police said on Monday.

The arrested persons are identified as 37-year-old Chetan, a resident of Kotekaru, and 43-year-old Naveen, a resident of Yeyyadi.

The incident had taken place in Kavoor police station limits.

Police said that private website reporter Abhijit had filed a police complaint in this regard.

As per the complaint, Abhijith had gone to a restaurant with his friend on July 28, and the accused came up and questioned Abhijit if is he is a Muslim, and they had also questioned him that what is he doing with a Hindu girl. They had assumed Abhijit to be a Muslim and abused him and also attempted to assault him. The victim had then later filed an FIR regarding the incident.

In another case of moral policing, a policeman who was returning from a hotel with his family was assaulted.

The incidents reported in communally sensitive coastal Karnataka even after the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara’s stern warnings have caused a concern.

Sad for the status of these moral police. What our real police do when they see these moral police go around in hunting people around with women with their family and friends? Best is put them behind bars in interferening in peoples personal life and private matters. This is not a good sign for in a democratic world. Something is wrong with law and order situations if this continues

We have spent our whole childhood in Hindu environment. We shared and cared for each other's welfare. Never once we celebrated our festivals without each other's presence; May be it is Krishnastami, Diwali, Christmas or New Year. It is togetherness that mattered. These some of the goons are spoiling the credibility of Good Hindus. Hinduism is the most peaceful religion .... these goons have spoilt the status of good Hindus.

Your present responsibility is to find a suitable alliance to your own sisters at home so that they are married to a good family & live happily. Earn enough money so that you do not ask monetary help from others when your parents are hospitalized. Ask your so-called Boss, to get an admission to your children to the same school where your boss sends their children & ask him to pay the school fees. I bet you he will never want to mingle / identify your children with their children. But we were all raised together & had beer & food at the same table in the restaurant, we neither had any issue with it nor did you object. We all enjoyed our childhood & respected each other's sisters. What happened suddenly ? I agree Communities should be united for a good cause. But here you are going somewhere else. We all belong to One God who created me & you. You are accountable for your sins & karma and not your Boss hence start living for your parents & children.

Those who are engaged in moral policing, have no morals. So police over them n teach them da morals. Best persons to teach them morals is all those who are around whom these rougues harres just get together start questing them if needed.....also n hand them over to police. Couple's, youngsters go togatger what's their prob. By the way true love has no religion, caste, status, color only has humanity. Let humaprevail n moral policing perish. Most of these rouges have personal issues, complex n do not find a lady luck easily n are frustrated. They can't bear to see someone in love or care for each other.
