Mangaluru: Ex-serviceman sexually harasses policewoman, complaint filed

Mangaluru, Aug 1: An ex-serviceman sexually harassed a policewoman who was on her way to duty on scooter on Tuesday August 21 at Bagambila of Kumpala.

The accused is identified as Prashant (45), a resident of Kollya Kaniruthota, living at present in a rented house in Amritnagar of Kumpala.

A policewoman was riding her scooter towards her police station in order to join duty. Ex-serviceman Prashant, who waylaid her, sexually harassed the woman. When the policewoman raised alarm, locals gathered, caught the accused and handed him over to Ullal police.

Several cases are filed against Prashant in Ullal police station. All are under inquiry. Many people have registered cases against him as he harasses neighbours and other people of locality where he lives as he is addicted to alcohol. However, no action is taken against Prashant so far, who continues to create nuisance to public. He has assaulted the police too.

There are two cases against Prashant pending inquiry in the servicemen’s association in New Delhi.

    many ex servicemen have this egoistic attitude when moving in society...they feel themselves that they are cut above the rest....some get into these kind of nonsense things...police also is helpless as they cannot treat an ex soldier as a common man..only solution locals have to get together and give him a good bash...
