Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Aug 2: Do not receive internet calls or video call from unknown numbers. If one receives such calls, within minutes after the call is disconnected, the receiver will get nude video and photo clipping of him or her on the mobile phone. A huge network of fraudsters are behind this. Already, thousands of people have become victims of this online fraud.

As the technology advances, online fraud cases are also on the rise. Usually a video call comes from an unknown number. If the receiver receives the call, a young girl with no clothes on, will begin conversation from the other end. If the receiver responds suitably the same is recorded and later sent to the mobile phone of the receiver.

After a while, the receiver is asked to send lac of rupees of ransom or else the caller threatens to make the video viral on social media. Many have transferred money as they are scared about their reputation in the society. However, the fraudsters do not end there. They keep on asking for more money.

Some take emergency loan from loan apps. Similar type of blackmailing techniques are used in those cases too. The loan providers threaten the people who have availed the loan to pay the loan with huge interest. Many have even killed themselves in these situations.

Police have asked the public to report any video call from strangers.

In a case that occurred in Udupi, a person downloaded top loan website through app and took a loan of Rs 3500. He also returned the same to the UPI id in the app. However, he received call from a stranger asking him to pay more. When the person refused, his morphed naked photo was sent to his mobile phone. In addition, photos of two young girls known to the victim were sent the same way along with his photo. He was also threatened about the same that it will be publish on social media. A case is filed in this connection in Udupi cyber police station.

These types of video calls, as you indirectly said, only affect the rich, famous, and publicly prominent personalities; no need to worry for the common man!!
