Mangaluru, Aug 3: The feast day of St Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus was celebrated at St Aloysius Gonzaga School, on July 31.
Fr Anush Prasad Dcunha SJ, director, Loyola Pre-Novitiate, Mangaluru, was the main celebrant of the Eucharistic celebration and was the chief guest for the cultural programme.
While addressing the students, he urged them to follow the 5 D’s in their life–Discernment, Determination, Decision, Direction and Distinction which will lead to success in life.
The principal Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ in his address highlighted the contributions of significant Jesuit leaders and Alumni of Jesuit Institutions to the society.
The programme included the significance of the day, a video presentation on the life of St Ignatius, dance and a special song. Hiba Saadi welcomed the gatheringand the significance of the daywas given by Master Elston and MsLeisha Menezes proposed the vote of thanks.
The programme was compered by Rhea Rego. Vice-principals, Laurel D Souza and Aparna Suresh were present.
Roopa Pinto and Smitha Amanna, Acquina Rebello and Ashwini Lewis were the programme coordinators for classes III to V and classes VI to XII respectively.
