Mangaluru: Why is ABVP, BJP silent over gangrape of Dalit girl in Vittal, asks Kripa Alva

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Aug 5: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) general secretary Kripa Amar Alva questioned the BJP and ABVP for not raising their voice and condemning the gangrape of a Dalit girl in Vittal allegedly by youths from right-wing organisations.

Addressing a press meet at Congress Bhavan here on Saturday, August 5, she asked, “Why the ABVP, BJP MLAs and leaders silent over the gangrape of a minor Dalit girl in Vittal? Why are they not raising their voices against injustices done to that girl who hails from a very poor family?

“The ABVP had protested in front of the home minister's residence when the Udupi incident took place but why are they silent now on the incident that took place in Vittal? And why is there no agitation over a heinous crime against a Dalit child?

“Now where is the ABVP or the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights or the National Commission for Women? One of the accused Sukumar is from Bajrang Dal. Where are the Hindu organizations now? Why have they not visited the victim's residence and consoled her?” she asked.

She also said that the victim's financial condition is very bad and her entire family is leading a life in poverty.

Kripa also said that the victim requires proper counselling and she has to continue her education. “I will strive for the welfare of the poor girl and her family. The victim will be admitted to Social Welfare School in the upcoming days. The Congress government is committed to giving justice to the victim. A house should be constructed for the poor family by the government. In this regard, I will speak to the ministers concerned,” she said.

Kripa told that all legal course regarding the case is in progress.

Speaking about the Udupi college washroom video incident, she said, "The victim has not filed a complaint and the ABVP and BJP are giving political twists to these incidents. As the accused in the Vittal incidents are Hindus, the BJP is silent. If they were non-Hindus, they would hold a series of protests. Rape or filming a woman while bathing are the same, but who is giving political colour to such crimes?” she questioned.

She also lauded the Supreme Court's decision of staying Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's conviction in a criminal defamation case over a ‘Modi surname’ remark made during a political rally in the year 2019. “It is the victory of democracy and the Constitution. This decision by the honourable court will give a boost to the entire country,” said.

Congress leaders Ibrahim Kodijal, Subhodh Alva, and Ubaid were present.

Because rapists are from their own majority community. If the accused names Abdul, khader then they will come on the road to protest, press conference, hate speeches, rally etc to show dirty politics.

If their own party men carry out any anti-social activities, BJPigs dont show guts to protest or ask for enquiry. If issue becomes serious, then they disown their partner in crime & say "We don't have any connection with that person" or they label him as "Maanasika"!

Dear Madam,.now instead of all these questions and numberless press meets, one has to do something for the girls? As usual other party is not talking. So you should now do something for the girl and family instead of waiting someones answer. You are then more valued than others. They should shame on it.let the girl feel that atleast she gets help from someone.

Instead of all these stupid press conferences it would be better to act fast and take swift action. Rapes, immoral policing, drugs and criminal activities are increasing. It is high time for Congress government in Karnataka to take strict action against all these criminals. Let BJP bark and everyone knows their credibility. Sowjanya case also need to be solved soon and there should be justice for her and also Santhosh who was kept in jail for 11 long years though no fault of his.
