Beltangady: Moral policing - Three arrested for assaulting auto-rickshaw driver

Beltangady, Aug 6: Dharmasthala police arrested three people In connection with the assault of a auto rickshaw driver, who was returning to Ujire after dropping a young girl to Dharmastala bus stand, two days ago.

The arrested accused are Dharmastala residents Avinash (26), Nandeep (20) and Puttur taluk Uppinangady resident Akshat (22). Mohammed Asique (22), a resident of Attaje of Ujire is the victim of assault. Investigation for apprehending other accused is in progress.


Ashique who was hospitalised after assault

The girl who went in the auto-rickshaw of Ashique is a student and a native of Bengaluru, who studies in a private college at Ujire. As her classes got over last week, she hired Ashique’s auto-rickshaw to travel to Dharmasthala bus stand on August 2 night in order to go to her native place Bengaluru. When Ashique was returning after dropping the girl, the accused assaulted him and escaped from the spot.

    This crime is clearly not a Moral or Immoral Policing case, it is a felony! No Hindu is authorised to take law in his own hand and beat up a Rickshaw driver hailing a fare and dropping a college student to her destination. That's his licensed business and its his livelihood. The Rickshaw Union must catch these goons and hang them for such atrocities. If such is what these radical Hindu goons want, then the Hindu Community at large should contain this menace, and put up a sign board on all Hindu owned Rickshaws, stating HINDU RICKSHAW FOR HINDU ONLY, so Hindu girl or woman can travel safely and these Rickshaws must not be permitted to pick passengers of other faiths. If this is what the Hindu radicals want! I wonder when this nonsense of religious vendatta will stop in India. Moral Policing should also be given Death Sentence if the Indian government wants to contain it. No one is above the law!

    Excuse me, why a rickshaw driver can't be handsome and stylist. I am sure you belong to the same group those said farmers children cant wear jeans. You think just for being poor they don't have basic rights?? Are you a human?
