Zomato delivery guy seen eating customer's food in Bengaluru

New Delhi, Aug 6 (IANS): As Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal went out on Sunday delivering friendship bands and food to few delivery partners and customers, a company rider was seen eating from packages meant for customers while waiting at a traffic signal in Bengaluru.

The incident, caught on camera, was shared on Facebook, captioned: "For all those who order from Zomato / Swiggy."

In the video, he is seen reaching for what appears to be french fries inside the Zomato delivery box behind him while stuck in traffic.

Responding to the video, several Facebook users pointed out that they too have received tampered food packages, while some said that he might have kept his own food in the bag separately.

"Mostly it happens, Even we have already complained about this. But Zomato has not taken any action. All frauds are in same queue," a user commented.

"The vendor must seal the food perfectly and see that it's not tampered," aother user wrote.

One more user said: "This is wrong judgement! mind it this is not a robotic delivery system and may be it could be his own food carrying with him."

Earlier in the day, Goyal hits the street on his Royal Enfield bike to deliver friendship bands and food to a few of the company's delivery partners, restaurant partners, and customers.

He shared pictures on X (formerly Twitter) of the "best food friends forever" bands, calling it the "best Sunday ever".

"Going to deliver some food and friendship bands to our delivery partners, restaurant partners and customers. Best Sunday ever!!" Goyal wrote.

Meanwhile, Zomato has reported a net profit of Rs 2 crore in the first quarter of the current financial year and revenues of Rs 2,416 crore (year-over-year), up 70.9 per cent from the same period last year.

Poor guy must have been hungry. But having said that, if they open n have food then they shouldn't deliver it. Because its unhygienic. So should come out with a solution where both parties don't suffer. Zomato should make sure the rsturants seal the food packets properly, so incase if a hungry delivery guy takes a bite should b able to make out . Personally, if a delivery guy calls me n tells that he was hungry , got stuck in da traffic n ate the delivery food I don't mind ordering again. After all hunger is something which same for everyone. Its just that they need to be honest. . But i wil not b redy to eat the food which is opened n some one had a bite n then if the same thing is delivered to the customer. . Its not right . Its nothing but strictly for hygienic reasons.

Wilma mangalore dont defend him as poor guy was hungry. When he is hungry let him buy direct by his employer or ask him for food.Need not take of what others have paid and ordered.Let him ask with others some food .As a good employee will not do this .when a customer has ordered some food ,delivery person must show his character as good one and honest. Not a cheater.Employer cant believe in such person and throw him out.

Traffic jam, delay is so long, he must be having time-pass kit, in the same bag. Suggestion is to hang such packs round ones own neck rather than put hand behind lest the act be judged with suspicion.

The way he was picking up food, that looks like he was having his own eatables. It's not that easy to break well packed and sealed containers/ boxes and consume in public.

Here the point is ... may be the customer who ordered the food would have told the delivery guy to have it as a charity., After all he is also a human being., what is the guarantee that the food he was eating was ordered by the customer., Those who make issue out of non issue are miserably uncharitable., shame on them.,

Until I see the actual video, we can't come to a conclusion, what he is doing. He might have kept his personal food in that box and eating. Sometimes just by picture we can't say. I have not come across any delivery person misused .

it is not fair to judge without believable evidence .. he is putting his hand in the food delivery bag does not mean he has touched any food ... or eaten any food let alone customers food ... while delivering food packs, he will touch the the food pack ... how else he can deliver ... there will be no unpacked loose food in the bag ... he must be reaching to his own personal food pack to munch during the traffic jam ...

Please study the statistics of the rich poor divide growing wider and wider, which is one of the worst; 10% holding 70% of the wealth (please do your own research for finer details); see the world hunger index/malnutrition, and independently judge and decide for yourself......(no more comments

Yes, Zomato delivery person should not touch customers food. Let us put 'humanity' first. Let us try to understand his hunger instead of judging as they need energy to meet customers expectations. If anybody gets tampered food, let them take up the issue individually with Zomato. Let us allow delivery people to eat their own food instead of clicking photo and by judging that photo.

Hygienically it is not right to eat food when one has to deliver food. They should be given their meal times adjusted .Not during delivery times .When then they should keep it seperate from delivery food. Its Zomatos responsibility if food comes half open or weighing less.cold etc.Such delivery boys should be thrown out.
