Udupi, Aug 7: Konkani Natak Sabha (KNS) held its 59th singing competition as part of its annual competitions on Sunday, August 6.
The audition round in Udupi was held at St Mary’s CBSE English Medium School. Fr Charles Menezes, parish priest, Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi, delivered an encouraging message to the competitors, wishing them the best of luck and inaugurated the competition by lighting the lamp.
Liston D’Souza, vice-president of KNS, Cletus Lobo, assistant secretary of KNS, Gerald Concessao, treasurer, and Joseph Theodore, singing competition convenor, were present on the dais.
A total of 67 entries from 12 different categories with 119 participants from various age groups, ranging from 5 to 10 years, 10 to 15 years, 15 to 45 years, and above 45 years showcased their singing talents in solo, duet, mixed group and married couple categories
Liston D'Souza offered special thanks to Diocese of Udupi, Fr Charles Menezes, parish priest and Fr Johnson Lawrence Sequeira, principal of St Mary’s CBSE School, for their valuable support in organising the competition in Udupi.
Renowned musicians and composer Julian Alwyn D'Cunha from Derebail and Alwyn Noronha, Bajpe served as the esteemed judges for the competition.
The competition received valuable support from KNS manager Boniface Pinto, Sunil Menezes, former vice-president of KNS, Melwyn D Almeida and Floyd D'Mello, general secretary of KNS, assisted in the competition.
Cletus Lobo compered the programme and the vote of thanks was rendered by Floyd D’Mello.
