Karkala, Aug 8: Locals and police rescued four cows that were being transported in an inhumane manner in a Scorpio vehicle at Mudar near Bajagoli in the taluk on August 6 night.
The cows were being transported via Shirlalu. The Scorpio transporting the cows collided with another pick-up vehicle but sped away without stopping. The tyre of the Scorpio vehicle exploded at Shirlalu but the accused drove the vehicle in same condition till Mudaru. Then they abandoned the vehicle with cows and escaped.
When activists of Hindu organizations and locals checked, four cows were tied inside the vehicle in an inhumane manner. All were rescued with the help of police. The cops are on the hunt for the absconding accused.
