Puttur, Aug 16: In a heartening tribute to India's freedom fighters, armed forces, and farmers, St Philomena College and St Philomena PU College, in collaboration with 3/19 Kar Bn NCC Army SD/SW Wing and 5 Kar Naval NCC SD/SW Wing, jointly organized the noteworthy event 'Meri Maati Mera Desh' on the occasion of India's 77th Independence Day. The event took place within the serene premises of St Philomena College Puttur.
The event embodied unity and gratitude, featuring 10 cadets holding soil in their hands as a symbolic gesture paying homage to the farmers and soldiers who tirelessly nurtured the land and safeguarded the nation's borders. A dedication to environmental preservation was evident as 4 cadets planted saplings, promoting the noble cause of conserving the ecosystem.
The illumination of aspirations and dreams was symbolized by 10 cadets lighting candles, a powerful representation of the collective hopes. The ceremony reached its pinnacle when 4 cadets hoisted the national flag, a solemn act honoring the sacrifices of the valiant freedom fighters and soldiers.
A total of 01 ANO (Associate NCC Officer) and 67 cadets from the Army wing, along with 01 ANO and 12 cadets from the Naval wing, participated in this inspiring event. The occasion encapsulated the spirit of patriotism and reverence for the heroes of the nation.
The event 'Meri Maati Mera Desh' served as a poignant reminder that India's essence resides in the sweat of the farmers, the valor of the armed forces, and the sacrifices of the freedom fighters.
