Mangaluru, Aug 17: The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Kirem, in collaboration with St. Jude North deanery, Catholic Sabha, and the Youth Commission, organized a heartfelt blood donation camp as a tribute to their president, the late Mackwyn Vas. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the community, with nearly 100 donors coming forward to support the noble cause.
The event commenced with a warm welcome extended to the gathering by Alston Dantis, the president of ICYM Kirem. Dantis expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response and emphasized the importance of giving back to the community through initiatives such as blood donation.
Joswin D’Silva from ICYM Kirem gave a touching tribute to the late Mackwyn Vas, ICYM Kirem and others guests honoured Mackwyn's parents and brother, and lighted candles as a tribute underscoring his contributions to the community and his unwavering dedication to humanitarian causes.
Fr Oswald Monteiro took the stage to share heart-warming anecdotes about Mackwyn Vas, highlighting his selfless service and leadership within ICYM Kirem. He praised Vas's commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others and encouraged the youth to follow in his footsteps.
Dr Trisa Joy, representing Father Muller Hospital, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the significance of blood donation. Dr Joy emphasized the lifesaving impact of each donation and the role it plays in saving countless lives. Her insightful talk resonated with the audience, inspiring many to step forward and contribute.
