Kane’s hat-trick powers Bayern to 6–0 rout as English evening lights up Bundesliga opener

Berlin, Aug 23: Harry Kane kicked off Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga campaign in spectacular style, netting a first-half hat-trick in a dominant 6–0 win over RB Leipzig that showcased the club’s renewed attacking power — and a touch of British flair.

The 32-year-old England skipper, grinning after the match, admitted he was surprised to learn about Germany’s unique take on hat-tricks. Unlike the typical three-goal celebration elsewhere, Germans reserve special praise for a "flawless" hat-trick — three goals in one half.

“I didn’t even know that was a thing,” Kane laughed. “But at halftime, I figured I should make my mark on the scoreboard. Fair enough — I’ll take it!”

Kane’s trio, which took his Bayern tally to a staggering 65 goals in just 64 games, led the way in a night that also saw contributions from fellow Premier League alumni Michael Olise and Luis Diaz. Olise struck twice, while new signing Diaz scored and registered an assist in what German media dubbed an “English evening” at the Allianz Arena.

Even Bayern boss Vincent Kompany joined in the fun: “He scored three? I must have missed it — but he did it again, didn’t he?”

The emphatic win was a welcome relief for the club, following recent concerns about squad depth and a spate of high-profile exits. Kane noted, “It’s probably the smallest squad I’ve played in,” as Bayern navigate the post-Muller-Sane-Coman era.

With first-team regulars like Thomas Muller, Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman, and Mathys Tel all moving on, pressure has mounted on the club to strengthen. Club captain Manuel Neuer and midfielder Joshua Kimmich have also spoken out about the need for reinforcements.

Sporting director Max Eberl confirmed that Bayern are eyeing a short-term attacking reinforcement, possibly on a one-year loan. But he also highlighted the opportunity this creates for young talents such as Lennart Karl, Jonah Kusi-Asare, and Wisdom Mike.

Off the pitch, club president Herbert Hainer reassured fans of Bayern’s financial health, citing a new €60 million-per-year sponsorship agreement locked in until 2032. “We’re committed to long-term stability — both financially and on the field,” Hainer said.

For Kane, though, the evening was about goals, family, and chemistry. As usual, he carried home the match ball for his children and praised his partnership with Diaz.

“It’s only been a few weeks with Lucho, but we’re already clicking,” he said. “He gave me a few great passes and took his goal brilliantly. I’m really happy to have him in the squad.”
