Puttur, Aug 9: A car and a tipper collided at Golitottu near Nelyady on national highway on Monday August 8, resulting in the instant death of the person who was travelling in the ill-fated car. He has been identified as Abdul Razak (40), son of Mohammed, a resident of Anekal near Manjeshwar. He is survived by wife and two children.

It is learnt that Razak lived at Nekkilady near Uppinangady in a rented house since the last two years. He used to function as a broker. The tipper, which was moving on reverse gear for unloading its consignment of crushed stones, hit the car that was moving towards Hassan from Uppinangady. The front portion of the car was badly damaged in the process.

Car driver, Sarfuddin (35), and co-passenger, Azharuddin (30), were seriously hurt in the accident. They are being treated in a private hospital in Mangalore.

Personnel of Nelyady police station, like assistant sub-inspector, Jinappa, constables, Seetaram and Mohan D, along with traffic police officer, Nagesh Kadri, and some local leaders got involved with the operation to carry injured persons to the hospital and clearing the road for traffic, immediately after the accident.
