M'lore: Janjagruti Samiti Embarks on Signature Campaign Against Toll Gate Near NITK

Mangalore, Aug 8: A signature campaign opposing the proposal by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to set up a toll-gate near NITK, was conducted by motorists and truck drivers in Suratkal on Monday August 8.

Addressing media persons, Janjagruti Samiti convener Yatish Baikampady said that the proposal to collect toll charges was not included in the tender. He urged NHAI officials to abandon the plans as it would be a hindrance to motorists and long-haul truckers besides the general public.
 
Local corporators Revati Putran, Sumitya K, Shanta R, and Shobendra Sasihitlu said that in the backdrop of the plans that are underway to set up the toll-gate with police security, aggravated protests are in the offing.
 
Harish Achar Pejavar, Pushparaj Shetty Kudumboor, T N Ramesh, and Mahabala Rai Mukka led the protest.  Office-bearers of local social welfare and voluntary organizations also extended their support for the cause.

    better abandon the plans to widen the highway as well, cause some people are born to create trouble. these people need to travel out of mangalore and visit places within the state like bangalore mysore roads, hubli belgaum etc.
