Bantwal, Aug 27: As many as 1,750 students were awarded scholarships totalling Rs 52 lac at the 4th anniversary celebrations of Sarva Samaja of Bantwal taluk held under education and social welfare programme in association with Bunts Sangha Bantwal and Shashikiran Shetty, chairman of Allcargo Logistics, Mumbai.
The scholarship distribution and felicitation programme was held at Bantwal Bunts' Sangha Bhavan in Brahmakotla on Saturday, August 26.
Chandrahasa K Shetty, president of the Mumbai Bunts Sangha inaugurated the programme.
Shetty said that society can only be developed through education. Mumbai Bunts Sangha is adopting children to provide support for their educational and social activities, he said. The association is providing interest free loans towards payment of student fees directly to the institutions and construction of educational institutions.
He said that it is commendable that the Bantwal Bunts Sangha is also encouraging the social and educational sector in the same model.
On this occasion Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker and MLA U T Khader was felicitated on behalf of the association. Nagriguthu Vivek Shetty, former president of Bunts Sangha gave a felicitation speech.
Speaking after receiving the award, Khader said that Bunts Sangha is doing commendable work in nation building activity by extending scholarships and added that it is up to the youth to get good opportunities in the country and make India known to the world. He wished that the youths should enter politics and work towards building a new society.
A slew of demands were submitted to Khader by Bantwal Bunts Sangha. Khader promised to look into them and fulfill them.
Chandrahasa Shetty Rangoli, president of Bantwal Bunts Sangha presided over the function. He said that with the cooperation of Bantwal resident and Allcargo Logistics chairman Sashikiran Shetty the distribution of student scholarship is immense.
Dr Neil Ratan Shende, senior general manager (CSR) of Allcargo Logistics said that the company is giving more encouragement to education along with social activities. He said that the youth should aim to realise their future dreams along with nation building.
At the same time, Byndur MLA Gururaj Shetty Gantihole was felicitated.
Association Treasurer Lokesh Shetty, along with Treasurer Pratibha A Rai, and secretary Ranjan Kumar Shetty, women's unit president Rama S Bhandari, youth department president Nishan Alva, programme coordinator H Sankappa Shetty and presidents of various sectors of Bunts Sangha were present on the stage.
Dr Prashanth Marla, vice-president of Bantwal Bunts Sangha welcomed. Secretary Jagannath Chauta Badigudde proposed the vote of thanks. Balakrishna Shetty Kodaje compered the programme.
