Mangaluru, Sep 2: “It is very difficult to board city and service buses as the footboard is very high,” informed senior citizens to police commissioner Kuldeep Kumar R Jain during the call-in programme. The phone-in programme was held at the police commissioner's office here on Saturday September 2.

While a senior citizen complained that private and service buses are not reserving seats for senior citizens, another call informed that few private buses do not come to Athrabail in Kunjathbail. Another caller informed that private buses do not travel to Preetinagara in Shaktinagar.

A caller informed that vehicles especially buses are being parked in the middle of the road in Kulai.

Two callers complained that police are imposing fines for selling cigarettes. In reply, the commissioner said, “Selling cigarettes within a radius of 100 yards of any educational institution is prohibited and cigarettes should be sold in packs.”

A caller informed that ‘no parking’ board is displayed at several parking zones in the city by several commercial establishments creating problems for the general public.

There were complaints regarding auto-rickshaws using shrill horns, illegal sand mining in Maravoor and other places and high beam lights in vehicles.

The police commissioner assured of taking necessary action over all the complaints.

One helmet shop owner , opposite of hotel maya international at main road of bendoorwell has kept multiple iron rods with sharp edges on the footpath in front of his helmet shop ( forgot the exact name of the shop). Not only he is blocking the parking space, he is blocking the footpath, that too with iron rods with sharp edges. I was driving in that road, saw an elderly man fell because of these indiscriminate meaningless obstruction on the footpath. it's high time, people should boycott his / her shop , so that he should learn some humanity than arrogance / public nuisance . kind attention of officials to look into this footpath block, in spite of having space, that too with sharp iron rods.

This is just another ongoing drama related to the death of the bus conductor.. the bus driver, conductor n police are equally responsible for such deaths. The buses stop where ever they want, block free ways at signals, specially nanthoor circle.
