Sixth day’s Novena honouring Harihara Matha held at Our Lady of Health Minor Basilica

Media Release

Harihara, Sep 4: The sixth day’s Novena at Our Lady of Health, Minor Basilica, Harihara, Davanagere District, Diocese of Shimoga, began at 5:30 pm with Rosary, procession and floral homages to Harihara Matha. Then Basilica rector and parish priest Fr George K A led the Novena.

At 6:30 pm Fr Shanthraj SJ, Bengaluru, offered the Holy Eucharist. He preached his homily on the theme: “Mother Mary is an inspiration to win over the difficulties in the family.”

In his homily, he explained that difficulties are a part and parcel of life. "But we need to face them with the Grace of God courageously. Blessed Virgin Mary is the perfect example for us with how she faced the difficulties in her life. She never complained about them. But gracefully accepted them as the will of God and obeyed Him. Even in our lives she always remains as an example to face and overcome difficulties," he sermonised.

Fr Venil D'Silva, Fr Richard SJ, Fr Wilson Lopis and Fr Alvin Stanislaus concelebrated the Holy Eucharist.

After the mass, Fr Santhraj SJ led the benediction and the priests prayed for the pilgrims.

Rector of the Minor Basilica Fr George K A thanked Fr Shanthraj SJ.
