Mangalore, Aug 11: In support and solidarity of ‘Jan Lokpal Bill’ and Anna’s fight against corruption, some of the like-minded citizens here have decided to sit on fast at the entrance of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, State Bank circle from 10 AM to 6 PM on Monday August 16.

“August 16 will mark the second freedom struggle in India” said veteran Gandhian and social activist Anna Hazre. Expressing strong discontent over the Government’s version of the anti-graft Lokpal Bill, Anna Hazare vowed to go on fast Aug 16, calling it the country’s ‘second freedom struggle’.

It looks like the Government is not willing to eradicate corruption. This is the best chance to take affirmative steps to eradicate corruption in our country. We call upon the citizens of Mangalore to support Anna Hazare’s ‘Second Freedom Struggle’ to free the country from all sorts of corruption and corrupt practices, state the group of members in a media release.

“The Government has cheated the entire nation by clearing the draft of the Lokpal Bill that excludes very important clauses of the Jan Lokpal Bill drafted by the Anna Hazare team. The Prime Minister, the Chief Justice and the members of parliament for their actions inside the house are excluded from the ambit of the Lokpal Bill that was placed in the Parliament recently.

We believe, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) should be brought under the ambit of the Lokpal bill. All states should have Lokayukta (ombudsman) with prosecuting power. The government team had projected readiness to Team Anna Hazare and people’s draft. But the government has tabled a Lokpal Bill that falls short of citizen’s expectations in their interest and actions in curbing corruption”, they explained.

Anna Hazare and his supporters feel that they are left with no option but to go on indefinite fast from August 16, 2011.

The people of Mangalore are called upon by the members to come forward and join in their efforts to build a corruption free society by supporting the movement led by Gandhian Anna Hazare. “Join us in the “second freedom struggle” to free our country from corruption and corrupt practices”, they appealed.

Annaji has fully changed the Village Ralegaon Siddhi from a criminal and poverty striken to self-sufficency. I appreciate this change. Lets give Anna and ourselves a chance. Remember a sea is formed with lets of water. This is our only chance. Whether we succeed or not atleast the satisfaction we tried. but we will succeed the Youth have understood their responsibility and are getting involved. Only thing it should not be politically driven.

My complete support to Mr. Anna Hazare and his team.

Look at the ground situation here, the elected government is acting like a dictator.

Now, when Anna Hazare goes on fast, I am for certain that the government will create a situation, such that Anna is creating criminal activity or something like that.

We all know the attitude our Government.

In the name of democracy, they are dictators! Some of the present ministers like Kapil Sibal think they have come from a deferent planet to rule the country.

I appreciate the initiative taken by DAIJIWORLD to publish this news in public domain. Even the national television like NDTV have refrained from reporting this. All are under political support, no one want country to be free from corruption and are happy to live with this situation. Guys wakeup all this is the time, if not now then never. Just the revolution, support the change we all desired.

i want to ask all those who want to support Anna including myself , we have laws even now but is the crime rate dipping?? NO , looting , rape , kidnapping , corruption etc ... were here , will be there forever .. no strong bill will prevent corruption , did u hear sadanada gowda say , dont expect me to to root out corruption totally??/ rightly said i am not blaming him , our babus n politicians will NEVER STOP CORRUPTION , its a known fact that the ones with money can easily come out of any difficult situation , not only in India but all over the world , what we need is not a strong lokpal but measures by public - DONT GIVE BRIBE , if someone asks for one bring him to public domain n beat the hell out of him .....

Believe me this Gandhian thing is not going to work in present situation. Our social system and politics is so involved in corruption it is very hard to come out but it is possible. We are pointing finger to others, irronically each and every one of us are involved in corruption in one or another way. I am afraid this corrupt system is going to let Anna Hazare to death. Surely present Government would never pass the Jan lokpal bill as wanted by Sri Annaji. as the most corrupt are the one who rule our country and the one who rule all our states. NONE OF THE POLITICIAN reached to the throne with a true purpose. ALL MOST ALL ARE greedy. Our nation has enough for the needy and also has enough for the greedy if we allow. Good for all you guys who are overweight. A fantastic opportunity to lose weight. As far as fighting corruption is concerned, it will be nothing more than a farce.Please remember that no extra constitutional body or authority can prevent corruption. The fathers's of our constitution were not fools when they wrote it. Lokpal is not a solution, it could in the end become a headache. I am ashamed at the sheep mentality of our populace.Any body can take us for a ride as we are so gullible.

Dear Indian/Mangalore Citizens,
It is true that today our country is ranked 2nd corupt country in the whole world. And it is all because of these politicians who consider politics as a Blank cheque to fill their accounts. they forget that the money belongs to the citizens of India who pay tax to the government for the welfare of the people, development of our own country but in vain today people fight elections not for noble cause but to fill their pockets. Being a citizen of India I beleive that we should support Sir Anna in his noble cause and be at the place in his suport for freedom against corruption. I stay miles away from my home land but as a patriot to our nation, I and with other Indians in South Africa will submit a written draft to the officials of Indian Embassy and hold a stage in front of Indian commission in his support.

His wish and intention is natural and simple, he wants an India free of corruption with equal chances for all.
Anna is supported by Indians from all walks of life as he fights and tries to convince Indian politicians and political parties and other influential organisations and all Indians peacefully that a dream can come true by the determination of all to have a prosperous India, safe with a future for all even for the poorest of the poor.

But meanwhile there is uncertainty if the Jan Lokpal Bill can be passed in its original draft and implemented therefore August 16 will mark the second freedom struggle in India said veteran Gandhian and social activist Anna Hazre. Expressing strong discontent over the Government’s version of the anti-graft Lokpal Bill, Anna Hazare vowed to go on fast Aug 16, calling it the country’s second freedom struggle.

Anna will use again a powerful tool THE FATHER OF THE NATION GANDHI used, he will go on an indefinite fast to express his determination and will to achieve his goal peacefully and legally.

Anna will get again tremendous support all over India and even there will be a fast in M´lore.

An ex-army man. Fought 1965 Indo-Pak War
2. What's so special about him?
He built a village Ralegaon Siddhi in Ahamad Nagar district, Maharashtra
3. So what?
This village is a self-sustained model village. Energy is produced in the village itself from solar power, biofuel and wind mills.
In 1975, it used to be a poverty clad village. Now it is one of the richest village in India. It has become a model for self-sustained, Eco-friendly & harmonic village.
4. Ok,...?
This guy, Anna Hazare was awarded Padma Bhushan and is a known figure for his social activities.
5. Really, what is he fighting for?
He is supporting a cause, the amendment of a law to curb corruption in India.
6. How that can be possible?
He is advocating for a Bil, The Lok Pal Bill (The Citizen Ombudsman Bill), that will form an autonomous authority who will make politicians (ministers), beurocrats (IAS/IPS) accountable for their deeds.

Till we have a covolition govt in the country, corruption can not be stopped. Secondly, seviour punishment like other forgin countries should be imposed to the one found guilty. The case should be non bailable and the colprut should be forced to under go the punishment without any consideration.
