Mangalore, Aug 11: The feast of St Lawrence at the Bondel Church was celebrated on Wednesday August 10.

The main celebrant of the Holy Eucharist was Fr Peter S Noronha, Resident Priest at Fr Muller Homeopathic Medical College, Deralakatte.

The highlight of the celebration was the laying of hands on the congregation by the priests. The homily was preached by assistant Parish Priest from Belman Fr Ronald Pinto.

Father Pinto briefed on the life of St Lawrence and how we need to lead a life of faith. He also stressed on the need to witness to the world as St Lawrence had witnessed.

Fr Noronha, who is celebrating his 75th birth day and 50th Year of Priestly ordination after being felicitated recollected how he was indebted to the parish and that his communion, confirmation, and his first mass had been celebrated in Bondel Parish.

He also spoke on how his parents had helped him to receive the faith and in the modern world we need to instill this faith in our children.

Fr Michael Lobo, Fr Lawrence Pinto, Fr Melwyn D’Cunha OCD, Fr Edwin Correa, Fr Valerian D’souza, Director of SJEC, Fr Gratian Alvares, Fr Vinod Lobo, vice president of Parish Council Rudolf Pinto, and secretary of Parish Council Reginald D’Souza among others were present.

Fr Andrew D’Souza, Parish Priest of Bondel proposed the vote of thanks and appreciated efforts of assistant priest Fr Silvester Vincent Lobo in coordinating the feast. Around 20 priests concelebrated in the Eucharist.
