Mangalore, Aug 11: The Society of St Vincent de Paul (SSVP), St Francis Xavier Conference, Ferar distributed free sewing machines at the Samanvaya Hall on Monday August 8.

The beneficiaries were genuinely deserving ten women of diverse religions and from various villages, who were trained and had passed the tailoring-cum-embroidery course conducted by Samanvaya who had desires of earning a living out of the machines.

Mangalore Diocesan Director of the SSVP Fr Ronald Cutinha welcomed the gathering and remembered the patron saint who had great concern to the very poor and helped them with food and clothing.  His mission was carried on by Frederick Ozanam by starting the Society after St Vincent de Paul which has not only spread all around the world but is also well known for its tremendous charitable activities towards the downtrodden in the society.
