Udupi, Aug 12:
The body of Abhijit Singh, a student of MIT, who drowned in the sea off Kaup beach along with Jana kish, a Macedonian student, on Wednesday August 10, was retrieved by expert local swimmers on Friday August 12.

Immediately after the incident, local divers like Dayanand Suvarna, Deepak Kotian, and Shekhar Suvarna, ventured into the sea. They recovered the body of the girl student within a short time thereafter.

However, Abhijit's body could not be located despite intensive search operations, until Friday.

The two were part of a five-member group who had been to the beach on August 10 to have fun. While the other three sat on the shore, Jana and Abhijit ventured into the sea despite warnings and were washed away by the high tides.

Jana was in Manipal as an intern under Student Exchange Scheme, from Bangalore.
