Bantwal, Sep 18: The Bantwal town police station personnel successfully arrested two individuals involved in a series of daylight house thefts on September 9, in which gold ornaments valued at approximately Rs 5,36,000 and silver articles worth about Rs 3,000 were stolen.

A case was registered under crime number 98/2023 and sections 454, 380 IPC, and a thorough investigation was initiated.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Faraz (27) from Kasaba Bengre, Mangaluru taluk and Tausif Ahmed (34) from Chokkabettu, Krishnapur, Suratkal taluk.

The police have successfully recovered 223 grams of gold jewelry valued at Rs 12,23,000, along with Rs 3,000 worth of silver items. Additionally, they have seized a Mahindra Xylo car and a motorcycle, collectively valued at about Rs 3,30,000. The total assets recovered from the accused amount to Rs 15,56,000.

Notably, some of the recovered gold ornaments were identified as those stolen within the jurisdiction of Panambur police station. It was discovered that one of the accused, Faraz, had prior house burglary cases against him. These cases were filed under IPC section 380, crime number 279/2015 in Mangaluru North police station and sections 454, 457, 380 IPC in Panambur police station under crime number 21/2021.
