There are no safety regulations for these boats. How can a sleeping boat employee can fall into water ? Was there no railings ? Is there no proper place for resting / sleeping ? Why the boat driver didnt throw Life Rings ? Why not alerted coast guard ? Many questions... We are lacking basic safety at work.

These Fishing Boat owners in Malpe earn a huge amount of money from the exporters who buy the prime fresh fish and export it to tourist destinations such as Bombay, Goa, Bangalore, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh. Moreover, they get huge subsidy on Diesel for the Trawlers. However, this industry is not regulated and therefore the local Trawler owners take advantage in not valuing the life of one of his helpers who fell in the sea. Life Insurance and Medical Insurance and compensation in work hazards and work related accidents must be covered.
