Mangalore, Aug 16: St Jude's Shrine celebrated the feast of the Assumption of Mother Mary and also Independence Day here on Monday August 15 at 8.00 am.
Parish priest Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, in his homily, highlighted the importance of Independence Day and the feast of the assumption of our Lady. Fr Sunil Pinto, the assistant parish priest was the main celebrant of the day. The liturgy was organised by the ICYM members.
After the Holy Eucharist a flag hoisting ceremony was organised by the ICYM members. Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza hoisted the flag and gave his message. Arun D’Souza, the gurkar of Sacred Heart ward shared his view on importance of Independence Day.
On this occasion the Catholic Sabha had also organised Vanamahotsava. Fr Andrew inaugurated the Vanamahotsava symbolically by planting a sapling. Fr Sunil Pinto also distributed saplings to the parishioners.
