Mangalore, Aug 17: Apart from being cricketers, if there is something else that links Ian Botham, Steve Waugh, Chris Cairns and Heath Streak, it is their penchant for philanthropy.

Former Captain of Zimbabwe and current national coach Heath Streak is bowled over by little children deprived of good education, nutrition and health care and wants to do his bit to help needy children in India.

He has initiated a trust to help deprived children in the society and appointed his long time friend Joseph Rego as The head for his foundation, who also heads the foundation run by former Kiwi cricket captain Chris Cairn in India.

The chairman of Heath Streak Foundation Joseph Rego, while distributing scholarships to children for their tailoring and computer training at Cheshire Home here said that it is children, who are big hit and the foundation will help thousands of underprivileged children in the cities.

He also informed that the launch of Heath Streak foundation which was initially scheduled to be held in October 2011 is now postponed to February 2012 due to packed calendar of international and domestic cricket commitments.

Rego announced that Heath is in negotiation with the Zimbabwe Cricket Board for dates to travel to Mangalore to launch the foundation and expects positive nod after the current Zimbabwe-Bangladesh series.

DKCC president Dr Srikanth Rai mentioned at a press conference that city will witness huge cricket extravaganza as in February with the visit of Zimbabwe Cricket Team to play T20 game against Mangalore Indians.

Rego also said that Streak has already approached former players like Stuart Carlisle, Alistair Cambell, Grant Flower, Douglas Merillier and current players like Tatinda Taibu, Ray Price and Elton Chigumbura to be art of his squad that will tour the city.
