Mangalore, Aug 17: N Manjunath, state president of the scheduled castes unit of Congress party, accused Karnataka government headed by BJP, of following anti-dalit policies. He was addressing a meeting of the scheduled castes unit of the party held at the district Congress office here on Tuesday August 16.

“After the BJP formed the government, it never convened the meeting of SC/ST Vigilance and Monitoring Committee headed by the Chief Minister (CM). We urge the newly elected CM, D V Sadananda Gowda, to convene this meeting, and submit details of grievances and problems faced by the dalits to the central government so that we get the facilities we want,” he stated.

He noted that it is the responsibility of the CM and in-charge minister to ensure that discussions are regularly held about the problems of the dalits, and steps are promptly taken to address them. He asked the government to initiate action against 4,500 non-dalits, who had bagged government jobs on the basis of fake caste certificates.

Congress leaders, U T Khader, P V Mohan, Ivan D’Souza, Ibrahim Kodijal, Padmanabha Naringana, Dr Raghu, T K Sudhir, and others were present.
