Mangaluru, Sep 28: Muslims in Karnataka are celebrating Eid Milad on Thursday September 28. Eid Milad is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad.

On this occasion, Muslims celebrate the life, teachings, sufferings and character of the Prophet. It is believed that the Prophet had even forgiven his enemies.

On Eid, people wear new clothes, offer prayers and exchange gifts. The festival falls in the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, which is the third month of Islamic lunar calendar, associated with the sighting of the moon. Eid Milad is also mourned by some because it is also believed to be the death anniversary of the Prophet.

On Thursday morning, Muslim brethren took out a procession in Bunder.

Celebrate festival but avoid public places specially roads . Roads are constructed for convenience not for processions. Blocking public road is forbidden in Islam.

I appreciate the good points. The procession is of short duration. Earlier when cold drinks were offered, at the end of the procession, boys would collect the disposable glasses - no littering. Others should follow these measures.
